Looking at things in a different way requires a leap of faith. You have to set aside conventional wisdom about a subject and allow yourself to explore. That's how I feel about most things...and now my spectrum has been broadened with the inclusion of skydiving.
Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane requires one to leave behind what is general knowledge of planes and flight; you get on, find your seat, buckle up and seal the doors. You don't open the doors at certain altitudes and jump out of a commercial aircraft! Wouldn't be prudent. But, then again, there was a time when the act of flying required a leap of faith.
As we were taking off, I was thinking about flight and how it originated. It took quite a bit of trial and error before it was possible to get off the ground in a man made contraption. That got me to thinking....Someone had to be the first guy to jump out of a plane - there must have been two or three guys who had the same thought on the subject of skydiving because the trial and error period on this subject would have ended badly in so many ways - brutal. You'd need more than one person to continue the work as the test subjects piled up like so many bugs on the windshield.
It's asking a lot of a person to adjust their perspective. For me, adjusting my perspective was critical to move from the known to the unknown. But it was required in order for me to leave that plane. I believe everyone at The Pound has suspended disbelief on everything they know about what is customary to stay physically fit. Not everyone can do it and, for many, they struggle with letting go of what they believe to be correct on the subject.
I ask that you consider setting aside conventional wisdom when you look at all the things you touch in everyday life.......consider how much better off you are today having walked through the doors of The Pound.
